Summer hit hard and with an established high pressure and very light south east gradient the chance of a thermal breeze were virtually zero. And so it was that all racing on Saturday was postponed until next day.
A few extra boat entered on Sunday swelling numbers to 36 in the expectation of the promised 12 knots.
Race one proved to be the windiest with most of the leading group managing to stay airborne for the duration of the race.
Mike Lennon sailing "Lennon sails" took an early lead and was challenged on the second lap when Rob Greenhalgh cut into his lead.
Lennon held him off and extended down the last run. Rob took second and Ben Paton third.
Race two proved a bit more up and down with a large part of the single lap race off the foils.
Chris Rashley lead at the top mark followed closely by Ben, then Mike Cooke and Lennon 4th after recovering from starting OCS and restarting.
No one foiled on the last run except for Ricky Tagg who sailed around the fleet to take the win from Ben Paton and Mike Lennon.
The wind never recovered its strength and after some hanging about racing was called off. Whilst not the best event wind wise it was a great result for Lennon sails - taking 1st and 2nd overall with Lennon himself and Ricky Tagg who was one of the first customers to receive his sail earlier this month. This was Ricky's first time out with the sail !!
Next Event for the Fleet is Stokes Bay in 2 weeks time.
Soon after will be the biggest Moth worlds ever with over 130 boat expected at Hayling Island in Mid July.
