Mike Lennon, who took the win, was using his 2014 UK Nationals winning sail which is the A1m+ design. Rick Tagg in second overall was using a 13 month old A1m design which has been modified to fit a lowered mast stump. So this sail is now a little down on area - Rick was always the first on foils as the wind died away in races 3 and 4. He will be unstoppable when he breaks out his new full size A2m!
Jason Belben came in 3rd with an A2x ( X being in X ply sail cloth and not M for Membrane).
Richard Mason using Dylan Fletcher's boat ( who is on Olympic duty) finished 4th using a brand new A2m on Rocket design Moth.
And Ollie Holden who was released from long time gardening duties made a guest appearance to finish 5th - also using a vintage A1m.
The membrane type sails do seem to maintain a very long competitive life span. The more conventional film type sails seem to fall off a cliff after a relatively short competitive life.
